From the conclusions of a research paper on The Progression of Residential Housing Design Since the Second World War, a site was selected to implement the lessons learned from that research. The chosen site was taken from selection and analysis, to a Masterplan design, from which an indicative plot design was developed and finally an indicative housing design was carried out.
Poetics of Space.
The brief for this project was to develop a virtual space that conveyed the feelings, impressions and emotions experienced by the designer in relation of a poem. Following unconventional analysis of the poem, it had to be visualised in a single image that demonstrated the reaction of the designer. This image was then translated to a 3 dimensional space which represented the virtual experience that would be created.
Spatial Precedents & Design Futures
The design of the furniture should be well thought out and key furniture design should be explored and fit with the overall concept. However the design should not rely too heavily on technology that is yet to be developed and should reflect the realistic practices in current and future furniture manufacture. This project requirements were to take an existing space that was unsuccessful and develop a design that was possible in 2050 but also worked as an office.
